Webster's says:
move rhythmically to music: to move the feet and body rhythmically

cause to dance: to make somebody dance

Christina says:
motion to emotion
feeling music
feeling apendages
swelling in your soul
bursting from your toes
and your hands
and your muscles
and your tendons
and your bones...
the music moves you within
as the dance moves you without
without you knowing it
without you controlling it
it is your master
but yours to manipulate
yours to play with
to empress upon
an expression from
a most divine plane
it is the divine plan
for humans to move
and dancers to rule

I am a dancer
Dancer I am

I have been dancing for fifteen years now. It is, along with the love of my boyfriend, Eric, what drives me. It is what compels me. I was placed in a ballet class by my parents when I was three years old because, as much as I hate to admit it, I was a pigeon-toed fool...I danced ballet, tap and jazz for another five years before I quit to play one season of softball. (silly me) I then resumed my dance training in drill training during my freshman year of high school. The class was a precursor to the state and national championship drill team of which I was a dedicated part for two more years. After dozens of team awards and one shining soloist award, I found Lindy Hop. I've been a *swing* dancer for over a year now. (I began on the first Sunday of February 2000.) I was a member of the Houston Hepcats, the Houston Swing Dance Society's performing swing dance troupe, for one year. I competed at the American Lindy Hop Championships and placed fifth in the team division as well as third in the cabaret division. I taught an Intro to Swing class for the Houston Swing Dance Society for two months. (April and May 2001) And I am presently in the sencond month of teaching a four month Lindy 2 cirriculum. (June and July 2001) I have also been the acting (until May 2001) Co-President of a swing club founded at the high school that I attended. For that organization, I've been teaching a beginning Lindy class for nine months. (beginning last August)

In addition to all the teaching and dancing on my own, I also have been commissioned to choreograph a number of routines of which I am very proud. I am currently half of a choreography/teaching team for the HSDS cabaret--girl group routine for competition at ALHC this coming October. Tena Morales and myself have been working together to choreograph and teach a four minute routine to an eight member team. (I am very proud of it so far.)
